Bay Harbor in northern Michigan opened in the late 1990s as an Arthur Hills design on the shore of Little Traverse Bay. The property was previously an industrial site tied to a cement operation, and the old quarry workings were kept as golf features. There are three nines: Links, Quarry and Preserve, played in rotating combinations. The Links holes run along bluffs above the bay, the Quarry holes drop into the excavated ground with rock walls in play, and the Preserve holes move inland through woods. The club is semi-private, with public tee times available, and holes sit alongside a resort residential community.

Chaska, MN

Chaska Town Course is the municipal course in Chaska, Minnesota, southwest of Minneapolis. Arthur Hills designed it and the 18-hole par 72 opened in 2000. The routing works through rolling wooded ground with wetland and prairie sections between the corridors, and holes change character noticeably from one nine to the other. Bunkering is heavy for a municipal course and the greens are large with real internal movement. The course is owned by the City of Chaska and open to public play.

Nashport, OH

The Virtues Golf Club is an 18-hole public course in Nashport, Ohio, about 40 miles east of Columbus. Arthur Hills designed the par-72 layout, which opened in 1999 as Longaberger Golf Club before being renamed in 2015. From the back tees it plays 7,243 yards with a course rating of 75.2 and a slope of 139. The routing moves from ridge tops to valleys with elevation changes of up to 150 feet, framed by mature trees. The Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links, designed by Arthur Hills, opened in 1997 on the San Mateo County coastline south of San Francisco. Lost Pines Golf Club, formerly Wolfdancer Golf Club, is the resort course at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines in Cedar Creek, about 20 miles east of Austin. The routing was revised in 2023 with four new holes replacing four from the original layout.\n\nThe par-72 course plays to about 7,300 yards across rolling prairie, wooded ridgelines and lower ground near the Colorado River. Newport National Golf Club's Orchard Course is an 18-hole, par-72 public course in Middletown, Rhode Island, designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2002 on land that was previously a landscape nursery and orchard. Yorba Linda, CA

Black Gold Golf Club is an 18-hole public course in Yorba Linda, California, owned by the city and managed by KemperSports. Designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2001 on a former oil field, the course required moving more than two million cubic yards of dirt to fit holes into steep, rolling terrain, and several active oil wells remain visible on the property. The layout offers views toward the Orange County and Los Angeles coastline and Catalina Island on clear days, along with water features including a waterfall near the 18th green. It was the first new full-length municipal course built in Orange County since the early 1970s and remains open daily to the public.

Miami Beach, FL

Miami Beach Golf Club opened to the public on January 10, 1923, originally as the Bayshore Golf Course, part of developer Carl Fisher's Alton Beach subdivision. English architect Willie Park laid out the original course, and golfer Gene Sarazen played its first exhibition round in 1922. During World War II the U.S. Army used the grounds as a training area. In 2002 and 2003, the City of Miami Beach hired architect Arthur Hills to lead a full rebuild of the course, regrading the land, redoing the lakes and constructing a new clubhouse. The redesigned, par-72 layout is set only blocks from the beach in an urban section of Miami Beach, with strategic fairway bunkering and water hazards shaping several holes. It remains a municipally owned course open to public play.

Sarasota, FL

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club of Sarasota is an 18-hole course on Florida's Gulf Coast within the Stoneybrook community on Palmer Ranch. Arthur Hills designed the original course, which opened in 1994, and the layout was renovated in 2014 by Chris Wilczynski, a former Hills design associate, and again modernized in 2024 by Kipp Schulties. Ponds and wetlands come into play on most of the eighteen holes, and narrow fairways combined with small greens and coastal wind make the course play tougher than its modest yardage suggests. Journey at Pechanga is the resort course at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest laid it out through the hills above the resort, and it opened in 2001 as an 18-hole par 72 that plays to roughly 7,200 yards from the back tees. The routing works up and down the hillsides, so stances and yardages rarely stay level for long. Native chaparral, granite outcrops and oak stands frame the corridors, and several holes play toward long views across the Temecula Valley. Water and natural creek features come into play on the lower holes. The course is open to resort guests and public play. It is a cart-oriented layout given the elevation change between holes.

Laytonsville, MD

Blue Mash Golf Course is an Arthur Hills design in Laytonsville, Maryland, located about 45 minutes north of Washington, DC. The 6,900-yard, par-72 layout features great variety with some wide-open holes and others that are tighter and tree-lined. Approach play is critical at Blue Mash, as many greens are quite small with significant undulation, and tall-lipped bunkers test the short game. The course features a 9,000 square-foot practice putting green and a grass driving range, making it one of the best practice facilities in the DC metro area.

Deerfield Beach, FL

Deer Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Deerfield Beach, Florida, between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton and about five miles from the Atlantic coast. It was established in 1971 and has hosted qualifying rounds for USGA championships as well as an LPGA Tour event in the early 1980s. The course was designed by Arthur Hills, with a significant renovation completed in 2004, and features rolling and undulating greens that are unusual for the flat South Florida terrain. Tee options range from roughly 4,800 to nearly 6,900 yards depending on tee selection. No membership is required to book a tee time, though the club offers optional memberships with benefits such as advanced booking and discounted rates. Key West, FL

Key West Golf Club is located on Stock Island, part of the City of Key West in Monroe County, Florida, the southernmost golf course in the continental United States. The course was built on coral rock terrain that required dynamite to clear for fairways during construction. The City of Key West purchased the land in 1923 and hired architects William Langford and Theodore Moreau to design an eighteen-hole course; only nine holes officially opened, in 1924, as the full plan was never completed for financial reasons. Additional holes were built in the 1960s, and in 1983 architect Rees Jones and co-designer Keith Evans redesigned the entire course. It has been leased and operated by the Smith family since 1994, including rebuilding after Hurricane Wilma's storm surge in 2005. Key West Golf Club is open to the public, with four sets of tees, a driving range, and a golf school for children each spring. It is recognized on the Florida Historic Golf Trail.

Yardages from the tips play around 6,800 yards, with the Blue Tees around 6,500 yards. Homes do not come into play on any hole, giving the course an open, resort-like feel. Todd Creek Golf Club is an 18 hole par 72 semi-private course in Thornton, Colorado, designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 2007. The links inspired layout is set on gently rolling terrain with views of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Native grasses and strategically placed bunkers constitute the primary defenses against par. While houses line several fairways, the playing corridors remain generous across the exposed terrain.

Grand Rapids, MI

Thornapple Pointe Golf Club is a public course in Grand Rapids, set along the Thornapple River. The 18-hole layout plays over rolling, wooded terrain, one of the better public courses in west Michigan.

Cape Coral, FL

Coral Oaks Golf Course is a public, city owned course in Cape Coral, Florida, built within a century old oak hammock. Architect Arthur Hills designed the course, which opened in 1988, with additional work done by architect Tom Morrow in 2017. The par 72 layout measures about 6,623 yards from the championship tees, with TifEagle Bermuda greens and contoured fairways set among mature oaks. Eight lakes and 37 bunkers come into play across the round, giving golfers of varying skill levels a mix of risk and reward. The facility includes a driving range with 46 practice tees. The City of Cape Coral has kept the course under municipal management rather than outsourcing its operation, most recently reaffirming that decision in 2022 after resident support for city run maintenance and staffing. Walking is allowed on the course.

Pickerington, OH

Turnberry Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Pickerington, Ohio, on the east side of Columbus along Blacklick Creek. It was built in 1988 and opened for play in 1991, designed by Arthur Hills in a links-style layout with high fescue grasses, several lakes and numerous bunkers surrounding small, elevated greens. All tees, fairways and greens are bentgrass. Tee options range from about 3,812 to 6,775 yards, making the course workable for beginners as well as more experienced players, with a 70-station driving range on site. The course is owned and operated by the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and is open to public play, with SoloRider adaptive carts available by advance request.

Miamisburg, OH

PipeStone Golf Club is an 18-hole daily-fee course in Miamisburg, Ohio, near Dayton. It was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1992, and takes its name from the blue clay used historically by Native Americans in the area to make pottery and pipes. Kodak, TN

Island Pointe Golf Club is located in Kodak, Tennessee, between Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains, on more than 175 acres along the French Broad River. The layout uses islands in the river to create several holes surrounded by water. The course is a links style design by Arthur Hills that opened in 1991, playing to 7,001 yards from the back tees with Zoysia fairways and Bermuda greens. It was formerly known as River Islands. Island Pointe is a public, daily fee course with an extensive practice facility and PGA instruction available. A dress code applies, and rental clubs and carts are offered on site.

Sumter, SC

Beech Creek Golf Club in Sumter opened in 1989 in the High Hills of the Santee, on the site of the Revolutionary War Battle of Beech Creek. It is three miles from Shaw Air Force Base. The course plays about 6,800 yards from the back tees through mature forest and open hills. Elevation changes are rare for the area and give long views. Ponds and well-placed bunkers add the challenge. It is public and open daily, about 35 minutes from downtown Columbia.

Bittersweet Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public course in Gurnee, IL, owned by the Village of Gurnee. It opened in 1996 and was designed by Bob Lohmann. Water comes into play on 16 holes, and the course runs through wetlands, oak savanna and native prairie. Tees range from about 5,500 to 6,900 yards, and there is a driving range.

Carterville, IL

Quail Hollow Golf Course is an 18-hole layout inside Percy Quin State Park in McComb, Mississippi. It was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1996, built across the park's rolling natural terrain. The course measures roughly 6,700 to 6,750 yards from the tips with a par of 72, and greens are mini-verde ultradwarf grass paired with tifdwarf fairways. Holes move through wooded, hilly ground typical of southwest Mississippi, with a mix of doglegs and open landing areas that change character depending on the tee played. As a state park facility, Quail Hollow is open to the public and includes a pro shop and snack area. It is operated by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks rather than as a private club, and tee times can be booked through the park's golf shop.

Westmoreland was founded in 1911 by Evanston Golf Club members who wanted more room as Evanston grew; David McCurrach Jr. and John N. Welter lined up backing from William S. Mason and sold 300 memberships before ground was broken. The course has been altered by a long list of architects since, among them Willie Watson, A.W. Tillinghast, William Langford, William Diddel, Dick Nugent, Arthur Hills and Bob Lohmann. It plays par 72 at 6,733 yards.
