Riverwood Golf Club is a Gene Bates design in Port Charlotte, near the Myakka River. It opened in 1992 and plays as a par 72. The front nine runs through thick stands of pine. The back nine moves out into salt marsh and wetlands. The routing is a figure eight with no parallel fairways, and because the course was built before the homes, they rarely come into play. The par-4 8th has two forced carries over water. Wildlife is common, from alligators to bald eagles. It is open to the public, with five sets of tees.

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club of Sarasota

Sarasota, FL · 20 mi away

Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club of Sarasota is an 18-hole course on Florida's Gulf Coast within the Stoneybrook community on Palmer Ranch. Arthur Hills designed the original course, which opened in 1994, and the layout was renovated in 2014 by Chris Wilczynski, a former Hills design associate, and again modernized in 2024 by Kipp Schulties. Ponds and wetlands come into play on most of the eighteen holes, and narrow fairways combined with small greens and coastal wind make the course play tougher than its modest yardage suggests. Stoneybrook operates as a bundled community club, meaning golf privileges come with home ownership, and outside members are not accepted, though the club has been described as semi-private in nature. The course plays to a par of 72 with six sets of tees. Amenities include a practice facility, and the club also offers tennis and other resident recreation alongside golf.
