TPC Sawgrass - Stadium Course
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL · 5.7 mi away
The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, opened in 1980 as the first course Pete Dye built specifically for spectators. Deane Beman, then the PGA Tour commissioner, wanted a permanent home for the Tour's championship with room for crowds, and Dye shaped mounding around the holes to create natural viewing areas. That idea became the model for stadium golf everywhere. The par-3 17th is the best-known hole in American golf: a short shot to an island green surrounded by water, with a small pot bunker on the right and no bailout. The 18th that follows plays along water down the entire left side. Neither hole is long, and both have decided tournaments. The course was reworked by Dye in 2006 and renovated again in 2017, when the greens were rebuilt and drainage improved. It hosts the Players Championship each year, and the general public can book tee times outside tournament weeks.
TPC Sawgrass (Valley)
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL · 5.9 mi away
The Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida sits adjacent to the well-known Stadium Course and was designed by Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and player consultant Jerry Pate. It opened in 1987 on flat, marshy terrain that required extensive contouring and drainage work, with excavated fill repurposed to build spectator mounds. The layout runs through a residential section of the property and includes water hazards on nearly every hole, along with pot bunkers and bulkheaded lakes reflecting Dye's design trademarks. Open to resort guests and the public, the Valley Course has hosted several professional events, including a 1994 US Amateur Championship and various Korn Ferry Tour qualifiers.
Cimarrone Golf Club
Jacksonville, FL · 15 mi away
Cimarrone Golf Club is a semi-private course in Jacksonville, Florida, near the World Golf Village area of North Florida. The club opened in 1988 and was designed by architect David Postlethwait, who routed the layout through pine forest and marshland terrain. The 18-hole, par-72 course plays along mildly rolling ground with significant fairway and greenside mounding, and water or marsh comes into play on every hole. Multiple tee options and generally forgiving fairways allow players of varying skill levels to adjust the challenge. Cimarrone is open for public play in addition to member access, and includes practice facilities, a restaurant, and event and outing services.
