Erin, WI

Erin Hills sits on glacial terrain in Erin, Wisconsin, about 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee. Michael Hurdzan, Dana Fry and Ron Whitten designed it, and it opened in 2006 on land shaped by retreating ice into kettles, ridges and hollows, with very little earth moved to build the holes. There are no trees in play and no housing on the property, so wind is the main defense along with constant elevation change. Fairways are wide, the fescue rough is punishing, and several greens sit in natural bowls or on exposed shelves. The course is walking only, and caddies are available. Erin Hills hosted the 2011 U.S. Amateur, the 2017 U.S. Open won by Brooks Koepka at 16 under par, and the 2025 U.S. Women's Open. It is a daily fee course with on site lodging, and the USGA has scheduled further championships there, including the 2027 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and the 2035 U.S. Amateur.

Palm Desert, CA

Firecliff is the tougher of the two courses at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed it with John Cook, and it opened in 1997. The layout plays through desert washes and native scrub rather than housing corridors, with wide fairways, sizeable waste areas and long views to the Santa Rosa Mountains. Its greens are large and heavily contoured, and the course is set up to stay firm. Desert Willow is owned by the City of Palm Desert and open to public play.

Ellwood City, PA

Olde Stonewall Golf Club opened in 1999 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, northwest of Pittsburgh. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed the course on hilly, wooded ground marked by rock outcroppings and a series of ponds and streams that come into play on multiple holes. The routing climbs and drops repeatedly across the property, with several holes framed by stone walls and exposed rock faces that give the course its name. From the back tees it plays 7,103 yards at par 70, with a course rating of 74.2 and a slope of 149. Olde Stonewall is a public, daily-fee course open to advance booking and walk-up play.

Orchard Park, NY

Harvest Hill Golf Course is an 18-hole, daily-fee public course in Orchard Park designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan. The par-72 layout plays 7,021 yards from the black tees, with a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 129. Rolling bentgrass fairways move through wetlands and woods framed by bunkers and lakes to tiered greens. Diamond Hawk Golf Course occupies former railroad land in Cheektowaga, New York, close to Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Lucas Oil Golf Course, formerly Old English Golf Course, is in English, Indiana, about 39 miles west of Louisville. After a 1990 flood left the old downtown under nearly 10 feet of water, the town moved to higher ground. Local residents Cary Hammond and Mark Megenity pushed to turn the empty valley into Crawford County's first golf course. Michael Hurdzan designed it. The first nine opened in 2001 and the second in 2002. The front nine is mostly flat and runs through the old town streets along the Little Blue River, while the back nine climbs into the ridges with big elevation changes. It plays 6,830 yards at par 72 from the back tees with a 132 slope. It is open to the public, about 16 miles south of French Lick and 25 miles from Sultan's Run.

Plymouth, MA

Crosswinds Golf Club is a 27-hole public facility in Plymouth, Massachusetts, made up of three nine-hole loops named Jones, Ouimet, and Zaharias that combine into three 18-hole routings. The courses were designed by the Hurdzan/Fry team and opened in 2002 on rolling terrain with dramatic elevation change and mature hardwoods and evergreens. The Jones/Ouimet combination plays to a par of 72 and measures roughly 7,056 to 7,077 yards from the back tees, with large, undulating greens and a resort-style layout despite its daily-fee status. Annbriar Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Waterloo, Illinois, on land that was once a family farm just outside the St. Louis metro area. An old farmhouse site now holds the clubhouse, and a century-old smokehouse still stands on the property. Columbus, OH

The Gray Course is one of two 18-hole courses at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, alongside the Scarlet Course. Both were designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, whose routing plans were submitted to athletic director L. W. St. John in 1931, with Perry Maxwell also contributing to the design. The Gray Course opened in the early 1930s and serves the university's golf programs and students. It is often overshadowed by the tournament-hosting Scarlet Course despite sharing the same architectural pedigree.

Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course is a public, county-owned course in southwest Charlotte, North Carolina, near Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
