Widow's Walk Golf Course sits on a former sand and gravel pit along the coast in Scituate, Massachusetts, on the South Shore south of Boston.
The course was designed by architect Michael Hurdzan and opened in 1997 as the first environmental demonstration golf course in the United States, built to show that a degraded industrial site could be converted into a functioning, ecologically healthy golf course while using reduced water, fertilizer and pesticide inputs compared to a typical course. It plays as a links-style layout with rolling terrain, fescue rough and exposure to coastal wind.
The course is owned by the town of Scituate and operates as a public municipal facility, with a pro shop, driving range and on-site restaurant. It measures 6,373 yards from the back tees at par 72 over 18 holes.
