Courses in Austin
Omni Barton Creek (Fazio Canyons)
Austin, TX
Fazio Canyons is the second Tom Fazio design at Omni Barton Creek, opened in 1999 and routed through limestone cliffs, red oaks and sycamores along Short Springs Branch, a spring-fed creek that winds through much of the course. At 7,433 yards and par 72 it is the longest layout at the resort. In 2022 it reopened after a seven-month, $5 million renovation, done with Fazio's team, that added new tees, rebuilt the bunkers and greens, and installed Toptracer on the range. It was the first resort course in Texas certified as an Audubon International Signature Sanctuary. The round closes with a 561-yard par-5 finishing hole, often compared with the famous 18th on Foothills. Play is for resort guests and members, with tee times bookable up to 120 days ahead.
Omni Barton Creek (Crenshaw Cliffside)
Austin, TX
Crenshaw Cliffside opened in 1991 as one of the first courses Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed together, and Crenshaw, an Austin native and two-time Masters champion, built it around his view that "the best architect is nature." The par-71 layout plays to about 6,650 yards (72.6 rating, 133 slope from the back tees) with wide, tree-lined fairways and large, heavily contoured greens, so the real test is the approach rather than the drive. It is shorter and more forgiving off the tee than the resort's Fazio Foothills course, and it received a renovation in 2018 with Champion Bermuda greens. The finishing hole plays slightly uphill, with an approach over a running creek to a low green cut into the hillside. Cliffside hosted a round of the 2022 PGA Professional Championship. Tee times are for resort guests and Barton Creek members, bookable up to 120 days out.

Avery Ranch Golf Club
Austin, TX
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a public course in north Austin, Texas, built within the Avery Ranch residential community along Brushy Creek. The rocky Hill Country terrain required blasting during construction on several holes. The course was designed by Andy Raugust, a former associate at Nicklaus Design, and opened in 2002. It plays to a par of 72 over roughly 7,121 yards from the back tees, with oak-lined fairways, a 60-acre lake and a closing par-4 18th that runs alongside the water. Avery Ranch offers five sets of tees, Tif Eagle greens and Bermuda fairways and tees, along with a clubhouse and daily-fee public play.

Lions Municipal Golf Course
Austin, TX
Lions Municipal Golf Course, known to Austinites as Muny, is a city-owned course in West Austin opened in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as one of the first integrated public courses in the South. The par-71 layout plays to about 6,000 yards through mature oaks, a walkable, old-school track where Ben Crenshaw learned the game. A long preservation fight ended with a 2019 agreement keeping Muny as golf for generations to come.
Morris Williams Golf Course
Austin, TX
Morris Williams Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 public golf course in Austin, Texas, designed by Leon Howard and opened in 1964 as the city's third public course. It is named for Morris Williams Jr., an Austin-raised golfer who won numerous Texas amateur and junior titles before his death in a Korean War jet crash. The course once served as home to the University of Texas golf team under coach George Hannon, during a period when the Longhorns won NCAA titles with players including Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw. Hancock Golf Course
Austin, TX
Hancock Golf Course was founded in 1899 by Lewis Hancock, a former mayor of Austin, and was the original home of the Austin Country Club. That makes it one of the oldest golf courses in Texas, and the course is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it is a nine-hole, par-35 municipal layout of about 2,600 yards in central Austin: walking only, with a simple pay station in place of a pro shop. The city renamed the course for Hancock in 1946. Harvey Penick, one of the most influential teachers in the history of the game, learned golf on this ground. More than 125 years after it opened, Hancock still gives Austin a public course from the game's earliest days in America.
