Lions Municipal Golf Course, known to Austinites as Muny, is a city-owned course in West Austin opened in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as one of the first integrated public courses in the South. The par-71 layout plays to about 6,000 yards through mature oaks, a walkable, old-school track where Ben Crenshaw learned the game. A long preservation fight ended with a 2019 agreement keeping Muny as golf for generations to come.

Palmer Lakeside is Omni Barton Creek's satellite course, set on a hilltop above Lake Travis in Spicewood, roughly 25 miles west of the main resort. Arnold Palmer designed it, and it opened in 1986 as Hidden Hills Country Club before Barton Creek took it over in 1989. The par-72 layout has big elevation changes and wide lake views, and it favors long hitters, especially on the dogleg-left par-5 12th and par-4 13th for players who can draw the ball. The signature hole is the par-3 11th, framed by a cascading waterfall. It was renovated in 2024 with new NorthBridge Bermuda fairways. Access is for resort guests and members, bookable up to 120 days ahead.

Hancock Golf Course was founded in 1899 by Lewis Hancock, a former mayor of Austin, and was the original home of the Austin Country Club. That makes it one of the oldest golf courses in Texas, and the course is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it is a nine-hole, par-35 municipal layout of about 2,600 yards in central Austin — walking only, with a simple pay station in place of a pro shop. The city renamed the course for Hancock in 1946. Harvey Penick, one of the most influential teachers in the history of the game, learned golf on this ground. More than 125 years after it opened, Hancock still gives Austin a public course from the game's earliest days in America.
