About this course
Tyoga Golf Course, near downtown Wellsboro in Pennsylvania's Tioga County, traces its origins to 1923, when the club hired greenskeeper Walter Sowry to build its original nine holes on land purchased from the Matson family. The course operated for decades as Tyoga Country Club before adopting its current public name.
The nine-hole layout was expanded to eighteen holes in 1979 with help from a local nonprofit, GROW, which later took over ownership of the club in 2020 to keep it operating as a golf course. The setting is a quiet, wooded property just outside town.
Tyoga offers five sets of tees for a range of playing abilities and partners with a nearby hotel on golf packages that include lodging, breakfast and a round with cart.

Mark Twain Golf Course
Elmira, NY · 34 mi away
Mark Twain Golf Course is a public course in the Town of Horseheads, owned and operated by the City of Elmira, New York, and named for the author who lived nearby. It was designed by Donald Ross and built in 1937 as a Works Progress Administration project during the Great Depression. The course has hosted golf exhibitions over the decades featuring players such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, and its clubhouse displays historical photos documenting that history. It plays 18 holes to a par of 72. As a municipally owned public course, Mark Twain offers standard daily-fee tee times and cart rentals through the city's parks system.
Soaring Eagles Golf Course
Horseheads, NY · 38 mi away
Soaring Eagles Golf Course is a state-operated course inside Mark Twain State Park in Horseheads, New York, in the Finger Lakes region. It was designed by Archibald 'Pete' Craig and opened in 1963 on ground shaped thousands of years ago by a retreating glacier, which left kettle ponds scattered across the property. The routing is unusual for having only two holes that run parallel to each other. The course plays to roughly 6,600 to 7,000 yards depending on tee selection, with bentgrass tees, fairways and greens. As part of the state park system, it is open to the public with standard green fees, cart and club rentals, and reduced rates for New York State senior residents. The park surrounding the course also offers hunting in season and winter recreation.
Reservoir Creek Golf Course
Naples, NY · 59 mi away
Reservoir Creek Golf Course is a public 18-hole course in Naples, New York, in the Finger Lakes region south of Rochester. It was designed by architect Blaine Harrison and opened for play in June 2000 on a hillside site that had previously supported cattle grazing, cornfields, and vineyards. The design follows the natural contours of the hillside rather than reshaping the land, with fairways laid along old logging trails and sections of overgrown vineyard restored during construction, giving the course a mature, settled character despite its relatively recent opening. Its back tees play to roughly 6,300 yards at a par of 71. Reservoir Creek operates as a locally owned public course with a pro shop and on-site restaurant, and it has been recognized by regional golf media as a notable public option in the Rochester and Finger Lakes area.
