About this course

Soaring Eagles Golf Course is a state-operated course inside Mark Twain State Park in Horseheads, New York, in the Finger Lakes region. It was designed by Archibald 'Pete' Craig and opened in 1963 on ground shaped thousands of years ago by a retreating glacier, which left kettle ponds scattered across the property. The routing is unusual for having only two holes that run parallel to each other.

The course plays to roughly 6,600 to 7,000 yards depending on tee selection, with bentgrass tees, fairways and greens. As part of the state park system, it is open to the public with standard green fees, cart and club rentals, and reduced rates for New York State senior residents. The park surrounding the course also offers hunting in season and winter recreation.
