The Legends at Parris Island is an 18-hole course located on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Beaufort, South Carolina, on ground bordered by salt marsh and tidal creeks. It was originally built in 1947 and later redesigned by George Cobb, with Clyde Johnston credited with a subsequent renovation.
The routing winds along wetlands and beneath live oaks, with each hole named for a Marine who trained or served at Parris Island. The setting is unusual for a golf course, bordered by an active military base rather than housing, and recruits training nearby can sometimes be seen or heard from the fairways.
The Legends is open to the public, though visitors must complete a base-access registration process before arriving since it sits on federal property. The course plays to a par of 72 and roughly 6,900 yards from the back tees, with marsh and water coming into play on several holes.
