Tom Lehman & Jeff Hardin's 7,148-yard Sonoran Desert layout: Santa Catalina Mountain views at Omni Tucson National.
About this course
The Sonoran Course at Omni Tucson National Resort is a resort course in the western foothills of Tucson's Santa Catalina Mountains. It was designed by Tom Lehman, who redesigned and expanded an earlier nine-hole course on the site, and opened to the public in January 2006.
The desert-style, par-70 layout measures 6,529 yards from the back tees and includes two lakes and roughly 69 bunkers, with elevation changes and uphill and downhill shots less common elsewhere in Tucson.
Sonoran is one of two courses at the resort, alongside the older Catalina Course, which has hosted PGA Tour events. It is open to resort guests and outside golfers.

Omni Tucson National Resort - Catalina Course
Tucson, AZ · 1.1 mi away
The Catalina Course is one of two courses at Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Arizona, laid out on former cotton-field land in the desert north of downtown. The course opened in 1961, designed by Robert Bruce Harris, and was substantially redesigned in 1983 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. It hosted PGA Tour events for decades, including the Tucson Open beginning in 1965 and again from 1997 to 2006, as well as the 1966 U.S. Senior Amateur. Catalina plays as a traditional parkland-style layout with tree-lined fairways, multiple lakes and bunkering that tightens the driving areas, and it remains open to resort guests and the public.

Quarry Pines Golf Club
Tucson, AZ · 4.6 mi away
Quarry Pines Golf Club in Tucson, AZ, while the architect is unknown, offers a distinctive desert golf experience that opened in 1997. This 18-hole, par-71 course is carved from a former rock quarry, providing a unique and dramatic setting. The design incorporates the natural contours and features of the quarry, creating a challenging layout with elevation changes and strategic shot placements. The course is known for its rugged beauty, with exposed rock formations and desert vegetation framing many of the holes. While specific signature holes are not widely publicized, the overall character of playing through a reclaimed quarry makes every hole memorable. The terrain presents a good test of accuracy and course management, requiring golfers to navigate around natural hazards and utilize thoughtful approaches. Quarry Pines offers a raw, authentic desert golf experience that stands apart from more manicured courses, making it a worthwhile play for those seeking a unique challenge and a connection to the Arizona landscape.
