The Club at Starr Pass sits on the western edge of Tucson, threaded through the Tucson Mountains along the historic 1884 stagecoach route from which it takes its name. Robert Cupp and PGA Tour pro Craig Stadler designed the original 18 holes in 1987; Arnold Palmer added a third nine in 2003, giving the club three interchangeable nine-hole routings that cross desert washes and saguaro-studded terrain with notable elevation change.
The course served as host to the PGA Tour's Tucson Open from 1987 to 1996, where Phil Mickelson won as an amateur in 1991. It operates as part of the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, with golf managed by Troon; play is open to resort guests and the public through tee-time bookings, with rental clubs, a pro shop, and practice facilities on site.
