About this course
Miacomet Golf Club is Nantucket's public course, a mile in from the island's south shore in Massachusetts. The original nine dates to 1963; the course was extended to a full 18-hole par 72 of about 6,819 yards, which opened in 2003.
The ground is open, treeless and exposed, close enough to the Atlantic that the wind sets up the round. Fairways run through low moorland grasses and the greens are large and gently contoured, so the course plays very differently from one day to the next depending on the breeze.
The Nantucket Islands Land Bank owns the property, and the course is open to public play.

The Royal and Ancient Chappaquiddick Golf Club
Edgartown, MA · 21 mi away
The Royal and Ancient Chappaquiddick Golf Club, known locally as Royal Chappy, sits on North Neck Road on Chappaquiddick Island off Edgartown, Massachusetts. It began as an informal layout on salt plains along the shore, founded in the late 1880s by summer residents Frank Marshall and Sam Seager, and it fell into disrepair through the Depression and World War Two before being cleared and restored by later generations of the Marshall family. The nine-hole course, about 1,352 yards, has an unirrigated, rustic character with wooly greens, blind shots and quirky obstacles including a cedar tree standing in a fairway. It has no formal architect of record and has evolved informally over more than a century. Access is limited and semi-private, associated with the Chappaquiddick summer community, and the course is walkable with minimal amenities beyond a small clubhouse.
Farm Neck Golf Club
Oak Bluffs, MA · 26 mi away
Farm Neck Golf Club sits on Martha's Vineyard in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. Geoffrey Cornish, Bill Robinson and Patrick Mulligan laid out the 18-hole par 72, which opened in 1979 and plays to roughly 6,800 yards. The routing moves between stands of scrub oak and pine, open meadow and stretches of tidal marsh, with several holes looking out over Sengekontacket Pond and Nantucket Sound. Wind off the water is the main defence on an otherwise walkable, moderate-length layout, and the greens are small enough to make approach control matter. Farm Neck is semi-private in practice: limited public tee times are available outside peak member hours, so confirm access directly with the club.
