About this course
Forest Hills Golf Course has been Elyria golf since 1960, when it opened as a country club before becoming the Lorain County Metro Parks course it is today. The 18-hole, par 70 layout plays 6,255 yards from the blue tees, with the Black River winding through the property and coming into play on six holes. Ponds, bunkers and rolling hills keep every nine interesting, and the 16th has a local reputation as one of the hardest holes in Lorain County. A new clubhouse went up in 2009, and the facility includes a driving range, pro shop, and bar and grille. PGA instruction is available, leagues fill the week from teenagers to seniors, and the whole operation runs at metro park prices. It is an intermediate test that scratches the itch for a real round without asking for a full day or a full wallet.
