Patriot Hills Golf Club

Stony Point, NY

Patriot Hills Golf Club is an 18-hole municipal course in Stony Point, Rockland County, owned by the Town of Stony Point and designed by Rick Jacobson. It opened in 2003 on land that once held buildings from the former Letchworth Village complex. The par-71 course plays 6,485 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 72.0 and a slope of 136. Set in the Ramapo Mountains, the layout climbs and drops with big elevation changes and views over the Hudson Valley, which makes walking hard for most players.

Sunset Valley Golf Club

Highland Park, IL

Sunset Valley is a municipal course in Highland Park, Illinois, owned and operated by the Park District of Highland Park. Golf has been played on this ground north of Chicago since 1920, and the club still runs as a fully public facility with an 18-hole regulation layout at par 72 measuring about 6,726 yards from the back tees. The course golfers play today came out of a $7 million renovation by Rick Jacobson of Jacobson Golf Course Design, which rebuilt every tee, fairway, green and bunker along with the drainage and stormwater infrastructure. The rebuilt course reopened to the public on August 18, 2018. Jacobson's design leans on a British heathland look, with wide openness, strategic landforms, flowing masses of native grasses and groves of trees meant to recall the character of the original 1920s-era architecture. The clubhouse was remodeled as part of the same project. Because the property is park district land inside a residential North Shore town, walking is straightforward and tee times are sold to the general public rather than reserved for members.

Thornberry Creek at Oneida

Oneida, WI

Thornberry Creek at Oneida is a 27-hole public complex in Oneida, Wisconsin, just outside Green Bay, built across rolling ground with forested corridors, open meadows and several lakes. The Legends and Iroquois nines were designed by architect Rick Jacobson and opened in the mid-1990s, giving the property a mix of tree-lined holes and more open prairie-style terrain. The Legends Championship layout plays as a full 18-hole par-72 course with bentgrass fairways and greens, while the shorter Iroquois nine uses two greens per hole to allow either a nine or a full 18-hole round on its own. The club is associated with a large clubhouse, banquet space and the adjoining Radisson and Oneida Casino, and is known locally as the home course tied to the Green Bay Packers organization. It operates as a daily fee public facility with carts, a range and indoor simulators for off-season play.

Elgin, IL

Bowes Creek Golf Club, part of Bowes Creek Country Club, is an 18-hole public course in Elgin, Illinois, anchoring a 616-acre residential community in Kane County. The course was designed by architect Rick Jacobson. The layout integrates natural features of the site, including Bowes Creek itself, wetlands, a lake, rolling former farmland, mature trees and bluff slopes, with expansive fairways and sweeping bunkers edged by fescue grass. Five sets of tees range from about 5,100 to 6,900 yards, accommodating a wide range of playing abilities. Membership is open to the public through annual memberships or a "member for a day" fee instead of standard green fees, which includes cart use and access to the practice facility, driving range and clubhouse restaurant.
