About this course

The Emerald Course is one of three courses at Wailea Golf Club on Maui, Hawaii, in the resort community of Wailea in the shadow of Haleakala volcano. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., it opened in 1994 as a companion to the club's Gold Course. The layout is set within lush tropical landscaping of plumeria, bird of paradise, and other flowering plants, and is generally regarded as the more forgiving of the two courses, with fewer forced carries and wider fairways suited to a range of skill levels. It plays to a par of 72 at about 6,825 yards from the back tees, with four to six tee options on every hole. The 10th and 17th holes share a double green fronted by a lake, and several holes offer ocean views alongside the volcanic backdrop. As a resort course, access is oriented toward guests staying in the Wailea area and club members rather than unrestricted public play.
