The Dunes at Maui Lani
Kahului, HI · 2.4 mi away
The Dunes at Maui Lani is a public, 18-hole course in Kahului, Hawaii, built on naturally occurring sand dune terrain, unusual for the Hawaiian Islands. Architect Robin Nelson designed the course, which opened in 1999, using minimal earth-moving and instead shaping holes around the existing dunes, kiawe trees and rock outcrops. The layout plays in the style of an Irish links course, with partial blind shots, significant elevation change and firm, undulating greens, and the constant trade winds common to Maui make low, running shots important to scoring. At roughly 6,800 yards from the back tees, it is often described as the only true links-style course on the island. The course hosts the annual Maui Open and remains open daily to public play.
Maui Nui Golf Club
Kihei, HI · 10 mi away
Maui Nui Golf Club in Kihei opened in the late 1980s as the Elleair Maui Golf Club, designed by Canadian architect Bill Newis. The par 72 course climbs the slope above South Maui with views of Haleakalā, Molokini, Lanai and the West Maui Mountains. Fairways have been widened and greens enlarged over the years to make it friendlier, and it is known as one of the better value public rounds on Maui.
Pukalani Country Club
Pukalani, HI · 11 mi away
Pukalani Country Club sits in Upcountry Maui, on the slopes of Haleakala at about 1,100 feet elevation in Pukalani, Hawaii. The 18-hole course opened in 1980, designed by architect Bob Baldock, and spans roughly 160 acres with views toward the Pacific coastline. The layout plays to a par of 72 and around 6,882 yards from the back tees, and is best known for its third hole, which offers golfers a choice between an iron shot across a ravine or a downhill route into a well-bunkered lower green. Facilities include a pro shop, restaurant, lockers, and practice areas. The club operates on a semi-private basis, with tee times open to outside golfers alongside its membership program.
