About this course

Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links is a 27-hole public facility located in the Portage Lakes region of Akron and New Franklin, Ohio. Established in 1925 by the Thornton family, the course was one of the first public layouts in the Akron area. The facility consists of three distinct nine-hole courses: the Long, Middle, and Water nines. The original 18 holes were supplemented by the Water Nine in the 1930s, which plays along the edge of Turkeyfoot Lake. The course is known for its tree-lined fairways and natural topography that follows the sloping hills down toward the water. It maintains a reputation for being one of the drier courses in the region, often remaining open when others are restricted due to moisture. The property includes a full-service restaurant and pro shop, serving generations of local golfers.
