LSU Golf Course

LSU Golf Course was an 18-hole public course on the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge, located off Gourrier Avenue. Designed in 1961 by Al Michael and Phil Thomson, the flat layout served students and the public for more than six decades. LSU announced in 2026 that the course would permanently close, with its last day of public play in May and full shutdown of operations set for June 30, 2026, for financial reasons. It is distinct from the University Club of Baton Rouge, the private David Toms/Jim Lipe-designed course that now serves as the home course for LSU's golf teams.

Historic City Park Golf Course

Baton Rouge, LA · 11 mi away

Historic City Park Golf Course is the oldest public course in Baton Rouge and one of the oldest in the South. Tom Bendelow designed the course in 1926, and it opened for play in 1928. The nine holes play on gentle park ground shaded by mature trees, an easy walk in the middle of the city. The layout has changed little in character across nearly a century of play. The course is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, one of the few golf courses in the country with that recognition. It approaches its centennial as a living piece of Baton Rouge history.

Beaver Creek Golf Course

Baton Rouge, LA · 12 mi away

Beaver Creek Golf Course, part of the BREC parish parks system, sits on the plains of northern East Baton Rouge Parish near Zachary, Louisiana, about 20 minutes from downtown Baton Rouge. Designed by Craig Schreiner and Associates, the par-72 layout features a windswept front nine and a sheltered back nine that winds through protected wetlands, including double greens shared between holes 5 and 7 and holes 11 and 12. It was the first BREC course to install Tif-Eagle Bermuda grass greens and includes a lighted driving range, a large putting green and a short-game practice area. The course is open to the public, with tee times available up to six days in advance and a grill on site for golfers after their round.
