The Bridges Golf & Country Club is located in Montrose, Colorado, on the state's Western Slope, roughly 65 miles from both Grand Junction and Telluride. The course, part of a residential community called The Bridges at Black Canyon, was designed by Nicklaus Design and opened for play in 2005.
The gently rolling layout incorporates the historic Loutsenhizer Canal along with constructed lakes, marshes and streams, with water hazards affecting play on sixteen of the eighteen holes. Set at an elevation near 5,800 feet, the course offers views of the San Juan Mountains, Horsefly Mountain and Grand Mesa, and is planted with pine, spruce, ash and cottonwood trees.
The club has operated as a semi-private facility, open to outside play with preferred access for members, and includes a large clubhouse with dining, locker rooms and meeting space.
