About this course
Talamore is a Rees Jones design in Southern Pines, built on sandy Sandhills ground about eight miles from the Pinehurst campus. It opened in 1991 along the Midland Road corridor, in the wave of resort-era courses that filled the area at the time. The layout runs through rolling pine-lined corridors on the region's native sand base, with the bunkering and green contouring characteristic of Jones's work. A remastering project has since reworked the greens and playing corridors. Its position among neighbouring Sandhills layouts makes it a natural pairing on a multi-course stay.

Longleaf Golf & Family Club
Southern Pines, NC · 0.6 mi away
Longleaf Golf & Family Club sits just outside the Village of Pinehurst in Southern Pines, North Carolina, on land that was once Starland Farms, a thoroughbred horse training facility. The course was designed by Dan Maples and later renovated by architect Bill Bergin, with a front nine laid out in a Scottish open style over subtly rolling fairways and a back nine that is more heavily tree-lined and dramatically elevated. Remnants of the old horse track and fencing remain incorporated into the grounds as a nod to the property's history. Longleaf operates as a semi-private club that welcomes non-member play, and it is also the birthplace of the Longleaf Tee System, which scales play across seven sets of tees for golfers of different abilities. The course plays to par 72 over 18 holes.

Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Southern Pines, NC · 1.2 mi away
Pine Needles in Southern Pines, North Carolina, is a classic Donald Ross design that dates to the 1920s and has become one of the most important courses in women's golf. The course has hosted four U.S. Women's Opens, most recently in 2022, along with the 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open. It's a public course with a traditional Sandhills setting of rolling terrain, pine trees and sandy soil. Kyle Franz completed a significant restoration in 2017, bringing back many of the characteristics of Ross's original design while updating the bunkers, greens and surrounding areas. The course is known for its excellent green complexes, strategic bunkering and the way it uses the natural movement of the property. Pine Needles also has a unique place in golf history thanks to Peggy Kirk Bell, who owned the resort for decades and became one of the most influential figures in women's golf. She helped make Pine Needles a major destination for women's golf instruction and was the first woman inducted into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame.
Pinehurst No. 6
Pinehurst, NC · 1.8 mi away
Pinehurst No. 6 is an 18-hole, par-72 resort course at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, designed by George and Tom Fazio and opened in 1979. Tom Fazio renovated the course in 2005, adding bunkers and native wiregrass. It measures 7,053 yards from the back tees, with a course rating of 74.7 and a slope of 139. The layout is more open and links-influenced than Pinehurst's tree-lined courses, set on rolling terrain with views across the property. It was the first Pinehurst course not designed by Donald Ross.
