Sidney Marovitz Golf Course

Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course opened on June 15, 1932 as Waveland Golf Course, built on landfill reclaimed from Lake Michigan. Edward B. Dearie Jr. designed the course, and the city renamed it in 1991 for Sydney Marovitz, a longtime champion of public golf in Chicago. The nine holes sit between Lake Shore Drive and the lake, a tight, flat loop with water views on nearly every shot. Its lakefront clock tower is one of the most recognizable sights in Chicago golf. For decades this has been the most played public course in the city — a place where Chicago golf's everyday history is still being made, open to anyone from dawn to dark.
