About this course

Ottawa Park Golf Course lies within Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio, on parkland originally laid out along principles associated with landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. It was established in 1899 by S.P. Jermain, making it one of the oldest public golf courses in the country and the first public course in the Midwest.

Jermain, known as the father of public golf in Toledo, designed the original nine holes, which expanded to eighteen between 1920 and 1921. The course hosted the first U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 1922, and a bronze statue of Jermain stands near the first tee.

The tree-lined parkland course today plays at just over 5,000 yards with subtle doglegs that reward accurate placement rather than length. It remains a city-operated public course.
