About this course

Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course is located in Montauk, New York, near the eastern tip of Long Island's South Fork, within a state park that also includes a swimming pool and tennis courts. Ocean and bay winds affect play and can change conditions from day to day.

The course traces back to a private layout built in 1927 by Carl Fisher's development company. Robert Trent Jones Sr. redesigned the course in 1968 with his son Rees Jones, and Rees Jones later returned with co-designer Bryce Swanson for further work in 2008. New York State acquired the property in the late 1970s/1980.

Montauk Downs is a public, state-operated course; golfers must register through the New York State Parks online reservation system before booking tee times.
