Manor Valley Golf Course

Manor Valley Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Export, about 25 miles east of Pittsburgh. It plays to 6,015 yards and a par of 72. The front nine climbs toward one of the highest points in Penn Township, while the back nine runs over gentler ground with views of woodland and pasture.

The property was a Frye family farm before it became a golf course. Vince DeAugustine bought the course in 2017 and has been modernizing it since, and third and fourth generation family members still work there. The course opened for play in 1964 and is now in its sixth decade.

The lights are the story. They were installed for the 1964 season on 57 steel standards between 35 and 40 feet tall, positioned so they do not interfere with daytime play. Manor Valley bills itself as the first regulation-size lit golf course in the world and long the only night course between New York and Chicago. Metal halide bulbs replaced the original mercury vapor lamps, and in 2024 the course switched everything to LED spot and sport lights.

The front nine is the lit nine, and night golf runs roughly Memorial Day through Labor Day with a cart, for players 16 and older. Availability depends on the daily schedule, so call the pro shop. After a round, The 19th Hole serves dinner and drinks in a large dining room, with outdoor patios as well.
