About this course
Katke Golf Course is the home course of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, sitting on the highest ground in Mecosta County. It was designed by Robert Beard and opened for public play in 1974.
The rolling terrain mixes links-style stretches with tree-lined holes, and the course has gone through renovation work since 2004 to keep it current. It also serves as the training ground for Ferris State's PGA Golf Management program, one of the first of its kind in the country.
Katke is open to the public seven days a week with seasonal memberships available, and tee times are typically booked no more than two weeks in advance. The course plays to a par of 72 and measures close to 6,900 yards from the back tees.

Tullymore Golf Resort
Stanwood, MI · 12 mi away
Tullymore Golf Course is part of Tullymore Golf Resort near Stanwood, Michigan, roughly 30 miles west of Mount Pleasant and an hour north of Grand Rapids. The par-72 course opened in 2002 and was designed by architect Jim Engh, winding through more than 800 acres of woods, meadows, and wetlands left behind by glacial activity. The layout is known for Engh's signature bunkering and bowl-shaped greens, and it includes five par-3 and five par-5 holes for varied shot-making. The resort also operates a sister course, St. Ives, a few miles away, along with lodging, dining, and practice facilities. Tullymore is a public resort course, with tee times bookable by the public and package rates available for overnight guests.
Pilgrim's Run Golf Club
Pierson, MI · 23 mi away
Pilgrim's Run Golf Club is a public course on more than 400 acres of wooded, rolling terrain in Pierson, Michigan, about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids. It was built in 1997-98 by Kris Schumaker and Mike DeVries, with the holes divided among six people who each drew a set of numbers by lot, a story documented by the Golf Association of Michigan. The course has bent grass fairways and distinctive green complexes, with only three par-3 holes, giving it a par of 73 at 7,093 yards from the tips. It offers six sets of tees and no homes along the fairways, giving a secluded feel for a public facility.
Evergreen Resort
Cadillac, MI · 36 mi away
Evergreen Resort occupies about 327 acres outside Cadillac in northern Michigan, on a hillside overlooking Lake Cadillac. Golf here dates to 1959 and today consists of two courses: the 18-hole Spruce course, which winds through pine forest and gentle hills with small, sloped greens, and the shorter 9-hole Norway course. The Spruce course plays a classic routing with rolling fairways and modest green sizes that reward accurate approach shots over length. Three sets of tees are offered on each course. Evergreen operates as a resort with on-site lodging, two restaurants, an indoor pool and other amenities alongside the golf. It is open to resort guests and outside golfers.
