About this course
Eagle Ridge Golf Course sits on reclaimed mining land overlooking Trout Lake in Coleraine, Minnesota, on Minnesota's Iron Range. The course was built on old taconite mine stockpiles as part of a local economic development effort after the decline of nearby mining.
The idea originated with a state design team in the mid-1980s and was pursued by a local committee through the early 1990s; the course opened in 1996. It has operated continuously since, with new housing developed around the layout over the years.
The 18-hole course winds through rolling, wooded terrain shaped by its mining history. Facilities include a pro shop, practice range, clubhouse, bar and restaurant, and the course is open to the public.
