About this course

Champion Lakes is an 18-hole public course in Bolivar, near Ligonier in the Laurel Highlands. Pittsburgh Pirates teammates Dick Groat and Jerry Lynch designed and built it on a former apple orchard, opening in 1966. The course is wooded, with tight, tree-lined fairways, bentgrass playing surfaces and lakes in play. The Groat family still runs it, and there are sports-themed guest rooms and houses on site for stay-and-play trips.
