About this course
Briarwood Golf Club is a 36-hole facility in a rural setting in the rolling hills of south central Pennsylvania, near York. The original course, now known as the East course, was built by the Leatherman family, starting with Bill and Ken Leatherman, who began construction in 1960 on land that had been a turkey farm.
The East course opened for play in July 1963, named for briar trees found on the property; nearly all the fairway trees were hand planted. A second nine, the West course, opened in 1990, and a five-hole short course, the Final Five, was designed by Bill Love in 1992.
The facility includes a clubhouse, pro shop and practice areas, and remains open to the public.
