Despite the name, it is a public course owned and operated by the Town of Smithtown, built in 1965. The property includes a regulation 18-hole course playing to a par of 72 over about 6,100 yards from the back tees, along with a separate nine-hole par-3 course known as the Learning Links. Practice facilities include two large putting greens, a sand trap, and an iron-focused driving range, plus a classroom and video review room for instruction. The course is open to the public year-round, with extended hours in the off-season, and offers resident and non-resident rate tiers.
