Skybrook Golf Club
Huntersville, NC · 5.5 mi away
Skybrook Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Huntersville, North Carolina, within the Skybrook residential community in Mecklenburg County north of Charlotte. John LaFoy designed the course, which opened in 2000 across hilly terrain with elevation changes that range from gentle to dramatic. The routing plays close to 7,000 yards from the championship tees at a par of 72, with five sets of tees offering shorter options for less experienced players. Bunker placement follows the natural contours of the land, and a large lake comes into play on the closing holes, while much of the rest of the course carries relatively little water. Skybrook operates as a semi-private club, open to both members and the public, with a driving range and short-game practice area. Bermuda grass greens and clubhouse renovations were added under ownership that took over the club in 2019.
The Tradition Golf Club
Charlotte, NC · 6.5 mi away
The Tradition Golf Club is located in northeast Charlotte, North Carolina, near University Research Park, on rolling, tree-lined ground cut from dense hardwoods. Eleven water hazards, including lakes and streams, come into play across the layout. The course was designed by John Cassell II and opened for play in 1996. Three fairways are dogleg holes while the rest play straightaway, and the bentgrass greens range from undulating to fairly flat, putting an emphasis on approach shot accuracy. The course operates as a daily-fee public facility with a 5,400-square-foot clubhouse, dining space and a golf shop. Practice areas include a driving range, two putting greens and two practice bunkers, and the course plays to about 6,978 yards from the back tees.
