About this course

Birdwood Golf Course is located at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, Virginia, with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a closing stretch that circles the historic Birdwood Mansion. The course originally opened in 1984, designed by Lindsay Ervin, and was completely rebuilt by Davis Love III, his brother Mark Love, and architect Scot Sherman, reopening in 2020. The redesign drew on template holes associated with architects Seth Raynor and C.B. Macdonald, using about 50 acres of previously undeveloped land for new holes. Birdwood serves as the home course for the University of Virginia men's and women's golf teams and is open to resort guests, members and the community, alongside a six-hole par-3 course and a large putting course.
