About this course

Belmont Golf Club in Downers Grove sits on the original 1892 site of the Chicago Golf Club, where Charles Blair Macdonald laid out nine holes and added nine more in 1893 to make the first 18-hole course in the United States. The Belmont Golf Club formed on the property in 1899. Today it is a 9-hole, par-36 public course run by the Downers Grove Park District, and the 7th hole still follows the original 1892 design. There is a 24-station driving range with a covered shelter, a putting green and a chipping area.

Seven Bridges Golf Club

Woodridge, IL · 2.5 mi away

Seven Bridges Golf Club sits along the East Branch of the DuPage River in Woodridge, Illinois, on part of the site once occupied by the Woodridge Golf Club, a public course that dated to 1926. The Village of Woodridge developed Seven Bridges as part of a larger community redevelopment plan, hiring architect Dick Nugent to design a new 18-hole course; it opened on July 1, 1991. The river winds through the property and requires golfers to cross it repeatedly, giving the course its name, with water coming into play on roughly half the holes. Seven Bridges operates as a daily-fee public course owned by the village, with a restaurant and banquet facilities on site alongside golf.

Village Links Of Glen Ellyn

Glen Ellyn, IL · 4.0 mi away

The Village Links of Glen Ellyn sits on land in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, that the village originally set aside in the 1960s to combine a public golf course with stormwater detention for the area. Architect David Gill of St. Charles, Illinois designed the original course, which opened for play in 1967. Gill's design incorporated bentgrass tees, irrigated fairways and a mix of sand and water hazards that were ahead of their time for a public course. A third nine, the Link-Up Nine, opened in 1975 and was later combined with the back nine to form an 18-hole course, leaving the original front nine as a separate 9-hole layout, giving the facility 27 total holes today. The Village Links is publicly owned and open to daily fee play. It has hosted PGA Tour qualifying and U.S. Open sectional qualifying rounds over the years.
