A William Diddel design built in the early 1930s and donated to the City of La Porte by the Fox family, Beechwood is a classic 18-hole municipal course playing to par 72 at up to 6,657 yards. The traditional, tree-lined layout asks for every club in the bag, and the low green fees make it one of the better values in northern Indiana.

Whittaker Woods Golf Club, also marketed as the Woodlands Course at Whittaker, is an 18-hole public course in New Buffalo, Michigan, in the Harbor Country area of the state's southwest corner near the Indiana line. It was built through woods and wetlands by owners Dan and Mary O'Brien and opened in 1996, designed by architect Ken Killian. The course plays as long as about 7,072 yards from the back tees down to under 5,000 yards from the forward tees across five tee placements. The front nine is narrow and wooded with doglegs, while the back nine opens up but adds its own challenges, with water, bunkering and undulating greens throughout. The facility includes a stone-and-timber clubhouse, driving range, and short-game practice areas, and golf attire is required on the course.
