Fort Bragg Golf - Ryder Course

Fort Bragg, NC · 11 mi away

Ryder Golf Course is located on the grounds of Fort Bragg (also known during a period as Fort Liberty), a U.S. Army installation in North Carolina. It was built in 1930 as the Fort Bragg Officer's Golf Course within what is now the base's Old Post Historic District, and it is one of two golf courses operated on post alongside Stryker Golf Course. Originally laid out with 27 holes, the course lost nine holes in the 1960s to make way for military housing. A major renovation completed around 2000 rebuilt the irrigation system and bunkers, and further playing-surface work was done in the early 2020s. Ryder is a rolling, pine-lined course with several water holes and small, undulating greens, open to military personnel, authorized patrons and the visiting public through Fort Bragg's MWR golf program.

Carolina Trace Country Club: Lake

Sanford, NC · 11 mi away

The Lake Course at Carolina Trace Country Club is an 18-hole layout in Sanford, North Carolina, part of a private golf community built around the 315-acre Lake Trace. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., it opened for play in 1971, with a companion course completed later to form the club's 36 holes. Several holes run along the lake, including a par-3 13th with the water as a backdrop and two risk-reward par-5s bordered by water on the back nine. In 2015 architect David Whelchel led a renovation that rebuilt bunkers, adjusted some fairway contours and lengthened the course while preserving Jones's original routing. The club operates on a semi-private membership model with tee time access for members and guests.

Carolina Trace Country Club: Creek Course

Sanford, NC · 11 mi away

The Creek Course is one of two 18-hole layouts at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, North Carolina, within a gated residential community around Lake Trace in the Sandhills region. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1979, the course features dramatic elevation changes and rolling terrain uncommon for the area, along with a meandering creek that affects play on several holes, including the closing stretch. Fairways are narrow and lined with tall pines, and greens are smaller than on the club's companion Lake Course. The 18th green sits on a point of land surrounded by water on three sides. The club is part of a private residential development, though tee times have at times been available to outside players through arrangement.
