Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex - Kampen-Cosler

West Lafayette, IN

Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex is a 36-hole public facility on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, comprising the Kampen-Cosler and Ackerman-Allen courses. Both eighteens were designed by Pete Dye, with Kampen-Cosler an original links-style Dye design and Ackerman-Allen a renovation of the university's historic South Course, originally built by Bill Diddle in 1934. Kampen-Cosler plays as a links-style, par-72 layout with vast bunkers, native grassland, ponds, and a natural celery bog, stretching to more than 7,400 yards from the back tees. Ackerman-Allen offers a more parkland setting with rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, and white sand bunkers, playing over 7,500 yards from its longest tees. The complex operates as a public facility with memberships available and has hosted NCAA championships, Big Ten championships, and PGA of America junior and professional events. A clubhouse and practice center support both courses.

Purdue University Golf Club, known as the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, is a 36-hole public facility in West Lafayette, Indiana, comprising the Ackerman-Allen and Kampen-Cosler courses, both designed by Pete Dye. Ackerman-Allen, a parkland-style par-72 layout, traces its origins to the 1934 Purdue South Course by architect Bill Diddel and hosted the 1961 NCAA Championship, won by Purdue with Jack Nicklaus as individual champion. Kampen-Cosler is a links-style par-72 course with sand bunkers, native grasslands, and a natural celery bog.

Bridgewater Golf Club

Auburn, IN

Bridgewater Golf Club is a daily-fee course in Auburn, Indiana, in the state's northeast corner near Fort Wayne. Designed by Ernie Schrock, the layout plays to 7,272 yards from the back tees, with large, contoured greens that shape much of the strategy. Public golfers can book tee times online or by phone. The club has a full practice area with driving range, short-game area and putting green, GPS-equipped carts, and a grille room open for lunch and dinner. A junior golf program and men's and couples' leagues run through the season.

Timbergate Golf Course

Edinburgh, IN

Timbergate Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Edinburgh, Indiana, owned by the town of Edinburgh and located just off I-65. Designed by Clyde Johnston with input from Indiana native Fuzzy Zoeller, it is a links-style layout that plays from about 5,000 to 7,000 yards depending on tee selection, with bentgrass fairways and greens, eleven ponds, and bluegrass and fescue roughs defining each hole. Golf Digest has rated it a good-value course, the only one it recognized south of Indianapolis.

A public 18-hole course five miles east of North Manchester on State Road 114, built on 100 acres of former farmland. Two creeks come into play on 15 holes, and recent upgrades added trees and family tees. PGA Professional Todd Sandow offers lessons and club fitting.

The City of Carmel's municipal course, built in 1970 and designed by William Diddel. The 18-hole, par-72 layout plays to 6,972 yards over gently rolling terrain with mature trees, and Cool Creek winds through most of the course. Four sets of tees, league play and a full-service pro shop.

Honeywell Golf Course

Wabash, IN

A not-for-profit public course in Wabash owned by the Honeywell Public Golf Course Agency, a joint effort of the City of Wabash and The Honeywell Foundation. The front nine is a 1940s William Diddel design; the back nine is a 1980s Arthur Hills design. Four sets of tees play from 5,021 to 6,444 yards.

Sunset Ridge Country Club

Northfield, IL

Sunset Ridge Country Club near Northfield, Illinois began as an idea among ten young men in 1922; the property sale closed in May 1923 and construction started within days under architect William H. Diddel. The club's inaugural round was played July 4, 1924, with founding officers and professional Bob Pirie in the first foursome. The par-71 course, roughly 6,752 yards, was restored by Rick Jacobson in 2004-2005 to reflect Diddel's original bunkering and green shaping. Sunset Ridge has hosted the Women's Western Open (1935), Women's Western Junior Open (1961), the Western Open (1972) and the Western Amateur (2018) and Women's Western Amateur (2022).
