Albuquerque, NM

Sandia Golf Club is a high-desert course north of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, developed by the Pueblo of Sandia as part of the Sandia Resort and Casino. Architect Scott Miller designed the course, which opened in June 2005 and stretches to roughly 7,750 yards from the back tees, among the longest in the state. The routing winds through rugged desert terrain with 48 bunkers and green complexes set against views of the Sandia Mountains, the Rio Grande and greater Albuquerque. The course is largely treeless, so wind and elevation both affect club selection. Sandia operates as a resort course managed by OB Sports, open to the public with a Pueblo-style clubhouse, restaurant and full practice facilities adjoining the casino property.

Scottsdale, AZ

Kierland Golf Club is a 27-hole facility at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, designed by Scott Miller, a former senior designer for Jack Nicklaus, and opened in 1996. The complex is organized into three nine-hole courses named Acacia, Ironwood and Mesquite after native desert plant life, which combine into three different 18-hole routings. Each nine has its own character while sharing rolling desert terrain, dramatic elevation changes and views back toward the resort and surrounding McDowell Mountains area. The course hosted the USGA's 1997 Women's State Team Championship not long after opening. As a resort course operated by Troon Golf, Kierland is available to resort guests and the public through tee time bookings, with the par-72 combinations offering multiple tee options for varying skill levels. The facility also includes practice areas and a golf academy on site.

Mount Pleasant, TX

Mount Pleasant Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Its front nine was built in 1939 by the Works Progress Administration to a Perry Maxwell design, with sand greens that were converted to grass in the 1950s. The back nine opened in 2002 with TifEagle bermuda greens. The course measures 6,412 yards from the back tees and wraps around a lake, with a lakeside clubhouse built in 1981. It runs as a semi-private club, so both members and outside golfers can arrange play.
