About this course

The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course in northern Idaho opened in 1991 and was designed by Scott Miller. It runs along the shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene, with manicured conditioning, mature evergreens and water in view on most holes.

Its signature is the par-3 14th, which plays to a floating island green anchored offshore. The green is a barge that is moved by cable, so the hole's length changes daily, generally between about 100 and 175 yards. Golfers reach it on a small electric boat, and anyone who makes par or better gets a certificate.

Caddies, called forecaddies here, accompany every group, and the round begins with a boat ride from the resort dock to the course. Conditioning is a large part of the reputation, including a full grass practice area and bunker sand that is dyed and maintained to a consistent look. The course is open to the public.
