The Bluffs Golf Course

Vermillion, SD

The Bluffs Golf Course overlooks the Missouri River valley in Vermillion, South Dakota, roughly a mile from the University of South Dakota campus. Designed by architect Patrick Wyss, it opened in 1996 and is carved from the natural bluff topography of the area. The front nine plays through groves of trees and around waterways, with water in play on five of the first six holes, while the back nine continues across rolling ground shaped by the river valley. The course serves as the home venue for University of South Dakota golf teams and Vermillion High School. The Bluffs is a municipally operated public course with a full-service clubhouse, group and individual lessons, and a walking path open to the community outside of play.
