Grapevine Golf Course

Grapevine, TX

Grapevine Golf Course is a City of Grapevine municipal facility near Lake Grapevine in North Texas, close to Dallas-Fort Worth. The original 18 holes, now known as the Pecan and Mockingbird nines, were designed by Byron Nelson and Joe Finger and opened in 1979. A third nine, the Bluebonnet, was added in 1999 by PGA Tour professional D.A. Weibring's design firm, Golf Resources, bringing the facility to 27 holes with added elevation change and faster greens. The original nines have since been renovated with modern Tif-Eagle greens. The course is public and heavily played, hosting more than 65,000 rounds a year, with water hazards, tree-lined fairways and multiple tee options serving golfers of varied ability.

Hawks Creek Golf Course

Fort Worth, TX

Hawks Creek Golf Club, in Westworth Village near Fort Worth, Texas, occupies the site of the historic Carswell Air Force Base golf course, which dates to the early 1920s. Architect John Colligan renovated the course around 2000, reopening it in 2002 under its current name, and it sits along the fence line of the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, where military aircraft are often visible overhead. The course runs about 6,800 to 6,900 yards from the back tees, with mature trees, water in play on most holes and Mini Verde Bermuda greens following a bunker renovation. It is owned and operated as a public course by the City of Westworth Village, with a driving range and grill available to golfers.

Schreiner Municipal Golf Course

Kerrville, TX

Scott Schreiner Golf Course, historically known as the Schreiner Municipal Golf Course, opened in 1924 as the Kerrville Country Club in the Texas Hill Country. The City of Kerrville acquired the property in 1934, making it the first and only municipal golf course in Kerr County, and later renamed it in honor of Scott Schreiner for his role in establishing the club. The course has operated continuously for a century, hosting the annual Heart of the Hills Golf Tournament for decades and, in 2024, celebrating its centennial. A renovation project addressing greens, bunkers and drainage was completed in 2025, the first major overhaul since 1999. As the only public golf course in Kerr County, it offers daily tee times, cart rentals, a driving range and a pro shop, remaining an accessible option for local and visiting golfers.
