The South Course is the newer of the two public 18s at Thunderbird Hills, a family-owned 36-hole facility on the Huron River in Huron, Ohio, about ten minutes east of Cedar Point. Bruce Palmer designed and built it, and it opened in 1995. It plays to par 72 and 6,347 yards from the black tees, with bent grass tees and fairways and larger, more undulating greens than the North. The front nine runs along the Huron River, with elevated views over the water through the middle holes. KemperSports manages the facility.

Sawmill Creek Golf Club

Huron, OH

Sawmill Creek Golf Club in Huron, Ohio, opened in 1974 and is one of Tom Fazio's early designs. It plays to par 71 and 6,782 yards from the back tees, with a 128 slope. The property sits between Sheldon Marsh Nature Preserve to the west, Lake Erie to the north, and Sawmill Creek to the east. The front nine, called the Creek Nine, has the creek running along four holes. The back nine, the Lake Nine, winds past willows and freshwater marsh. The greens are large, fast, and undulating, and the par 3s are the strength of the card. The course is owned by Cedar Fair, and Cedar Point resort guests can add rounds to their stay.
