It opened in 1897 with a design credited to Tom Bendelow and was rebuilt in the mid-1930s by architect John Van Kleek as part of a Depression-era public works project. The public, par-71 course plays 6,548 yards and is managed by American Golf Corporation. It includes a putting green, a chipping area, and junior golf programs, and the clubhouse also hosts private events.
