Vernon Hills, IL

White Deer Run Golf Club is a public course in Vernon Hills, Illinois, built on the former Cuneo Estate in Chicago's northern suburbs. The property covers about 240 acres of rolling ground with several lakes, including Lake Charles alongside the eighteenth hole. The course was designed by Dick and Tim Nugent and opened in 1998. It is known for very wide fairways paired with heavy bunkering, roughly five and a half acres of sand, so accuracy into the greens matters more than off the tee. The course operates as a daily-fee public facility with an attached banquet and event venue overlooking the course. Bentgrass covers the tees, fairways and greens, with Kentucky bluegrass rough, and five tee sets are available for men and women.
