Brookside Golf Club (E.O. Nay Course)
Pasadena, CA
The E.O. Nay Course is the shorter of two 18-hole layouts at Brookside Golf Course, a 36-hole municipal facility owned by the City of Pasadena and located next to the Rose Bowl in Arroyo Seco Natural Park. The complex sits in the foothills below the San Gabriel Mountains and is among the oldest golf facilities in Los Angeles County. Both Brookside courses were designed by architect William P. Bell; the E.O. Nay Course plays to a par of 70 across roughly 6,000 yards, shorter and generally regarded as less demanding than the adjacent C.W. Koiner Course. Brookside is a public, city-owned facility operated by American Golf, with shared practice putting greens, a chipping area, a practice bunker and a driving range serving both courses.
Brookside Golf Club (C.W. Koiner Course)
Pasadena, CA
Brookside Golf Club's C.W. Koiner Course is one of two 18-hole courses at the Brookside Golf Complex in Pasadena, California, located in the Arroyo Seco next to the Rose Bowl stadium and owned by the City of Pasadena. The Koiner Course opened in 1928 and was named for former Pasadena City Manager C. Wellington Koiner; it was designed, along with the companion E.O. Nay Course, by architect William P. Bell. The Koiner Course is the longer and more open of the two Brookside layouts, running along the western and southern portions of the property. It is relatively flat, with strategically placed bunkers, long rough and demanding greens that reward accurate play. The course hosted the PGA Tour's Los Angeles Open in 1968, won by Billy Casper, and later the 1974 USGA Amateur Public Links Championship.
