About this course

Waterville Country Club is located on more than 150 acres in Oakland, Maine, in the central part of the state.

Founded in 1916, the club's original nine holes were laid out by its founding members and redesigned in the 1930s by Orrin E. Smith, who had worked under Donald Ross. In 1967, a second nine was added and the course reworked under a design credited to Geoffrey Cornish.

The semi-private, 18-hole course is open to both members and the public and has hosted the Maine Amateur Championship more than ten times. Facilities include a pro shop, restaurant, two putting greens, and a practice range.

The layout covers high ground with heavy elevation change, white granite outcroppings, old-style cross bunkering and several water hazards. The clubhouse and first tee sit at the property's high point, overlooking Long Pond and Great Pond. The 9th and 18th holes share a large, undulating double green. The course is open to public play.
