About this course
The University of Georgia Golf Course opened in 1968. Robert Trent Jones Sr. drew the plan as a favor to university president O.C. Aderhold, and students paid for construction through their activity fees.
It is a big, rolling course among tall pines, stretching past 7,200 yards from the back tees. Many greens sit up above the fairway, so approaches have to carry rather than run on. Love Golf Design rebuilt the greens and green complexes in 2006 and added tees, with six sets now in use.
It is home to the Bulldogs golf teams and has hosted SEC and NCAA championships, including the 2013 NCAA women's title. The public can book tee times.

Lane Creek Golf Club
Bishop, GA · 10 mi away
Lane Creek Golf Club is a public course located just outside Athens, Georgia, in the community of Bishop. It originally opened in 1992 and was designed by Athens area architect Mike Young. The layout was renovated in 2006 with new Champion Bermuda greens, rebuilt and repositioned bunkers, and a few design tweaks, including changing the fifth hole from a par 5 to a short par 4. The course plays to a par of 71 at around 6,678 yards from the back tees, with an even mix of short, tempting par 4s and longer two shot holes, plus par 3s that mostly avoid water hazards. Lane Creek is open daily to public play, with a practice facility that includes a large tee area, target greens, and a putting green, along with a pro shop and clubhouse patio.
Reynolds Lake Oconee - Great Waters
Eatonton, GA · 25 mi away
Jack Nicklaus designed Great Waters, which opened in 1992 on the shore of Lake Oconee near Eatonton, Georgia, as the second course built at what is now Reynolds Lake Oconee. Nine of the eighteen holes touch the lake. The front nine moves through rolling parkland and hardwood before the routing turns to the water on the back nine, with greens set close to the shoreline through the closing stretch. The par-3 eighth and the run of holes from the ninth through the thirteenth carry most of the water exposure. Nicklaus Design rebuilt the course from the ground up starting in 2018, replacing turf, greens, bunkers, tees and irrigation while keeping Nicklaus's original routing and strategy. It reopened in the fall of 2019. The course hosted stages of the Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf from 1995 to 1997. Access runs through Reynolds Lake Oconee membership or a stay at the resort rather than open public tee sheets.

Greensboro, GA · 25 mi away

The par-72 layout measures 7,158 yards from the back tees and follows a routing along the Lake Oconee shoreline. It is a risk-reward design that offers options to play over inlets or carry the corners of tree-lined doglegs, with lake views from several holes. The course is part of the Reynolds Lake Oconee resort and residential community and is available to members and resort guests.
