The Wilderness at Fortune Bay is located in Tower, Minnesota, on the shores of Lake Vermilion within the Bois Forte Indian Reservation, set among granite ridges, pines and rock outcroppings in the state's northeast corner.
Jeff Brauer designed the course, which opened in 2004 as part of the Fortune Bay Resort Casino property. The layout favors aerial approach shots, with alternating high and low fairways, lake-edged greens and a pair of drop-shot par-3 holes; the par-5 16th splits into upper and lower fairway decks separated by a granite ridge.
The course operates as a public resort facility adjoining the casino resort, with GPS-equipped carts and a clubhouse grill overlooking the lake.
