About this course

The Rock Golf Club is a public course in Pickens, set on more than 100 acres of foothill terrain beneath Table Rock Mountain. Russell Breeden designed the course, which opened around 1980, and it winds through rolling hills, mountain streams and granite outcroppings. The signature par-3 eighth plays across a waterfall-fed creek, one of the most photographed holes in South Carolina. The property has carried several names over the years, including Gauley Falls and The Rock at Jocassee, and new ownership renovated the greens and clubhouse in 2017.

Connestee Falls Golf Course

Brevard, NC · 10 mi away

Connestee Falls Golf Course is a semi-private course within the gated Connestee Falls residential community near Brevard, North Carolina, at over 3,200 feet elevation in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course was designed by architect George Cobb as part of the community's original 1970s master plan. The 18-hole layout winds through mountainous terrain with multiple tee options ranging from about 3,000 to 6,500 yards, offering scenic mountain vistas along the way. The course includes dogleg holes and elevation changes typical of Cobb's mountain designs. While primarily serving Connestee Falls residents and members, the course offers limited tee times to public players, along with a pro shop and practice green.

Pickens Golf Club

Pickens, SC · 11 mi away

Pickens Golf Club is a public course between Clemson and Greenville with roots to 1953, when it opened as a nine-hole layout known as Pickens Country Club. Willie B. Lewis designed the second nine in 1958. A 2021 redesign by Jeff Lawrence recast it as a par-71, 5,570-yard hybrid: nine holes with 18 distinct tee boxes, so a full round plays as 18 different holes. The course features Diamond Zoysia greens and a new two-level clubhouse with a restaurant overlooking the ninth green.

Sapphire National Golf Club

Sapphire, NC · 16 mi away

Sapphire National Golf Club lies in the Sapphire Valley and Cashiers Plateau area of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina, and is the only golf course open to the public without a hotel stay in that part of the state. Architect Ron Garl designed the course to work with the mountainous terrain and a waterfall on the property. The layout moves through steep elevation changes, with a par-4 13th hole running beside a waterfall and a par-3 15th hole built around an island green. Bunkers, creeks and blind shots appear throughout, and the front nine carries more par 3s than the back. Sapphire National opened in 1982 and plays to a par of 70 across 18 holes, with several sets of tees to suit different distances. The course operates seasonally from March into winter, with bentgrass tees, fairways and greens.
