Natchez Golf Club at Duncan Park
Natchez, MS · 52 mi away
Natchez Golf Club at Duncan Park is an 18-hole public course near historic downtown Natchez, Mississippi, on land donated by the Stephen Duncan family in 1908. The back nine, built around 1916 and reputed to be the work of Scottish designer Seymour Dunn, is one of the older golf layouts still in play in the state. The front nine was designed and built by Bryan Ault in 1993, featuring rolling terrain and Bermuda greens, while the historic back nine offers gentler topography through dogwoods, azaleas and live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Walter Hagen played an exhibition on the original nine, and Sam Snead played the course in 1939. The course is public, with a driving range and pro shop, and hosts the annual Natchez Open Golf Championship.
Farm d'Allie Golf Club
Lafayette, LA · 55 mi away
Farm d'Allie Golf Club sits on bottomland known locally as Beau Bassin in Carencro, near Lafayette, Louisiana, once part of the historic Mississippi riverbed. The 215-acre property includes the Coteau Ridge, one of the highest points in Lafayette Parish, and was previously used for row crops, cattle grazing and horseback riding. The golf course was designed by Jeffery D. Blume and opened in February 2003, following the earlier opening of a practice and teaching facility on the same land in 2000. Fourteen interconnected lakes serve as an irrigation reservoir and come into play throughout the round. The par-72 course plays to roughly 7,000 yards from the back tees across six sets of tees, with fairways cut into gumbo-type soil sculpted to add elevation change. The club includes a teaching facility with an LPGA-certified instructor.
