About this course
Springfield Golf Club is located in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just south of Charlotte, North Carolina, and was designed by architect Clyde Johnston in a style recalling 1920s golf course design. The course opened in April 2001 on heavily wooded, hilly ground that flows into the Piedmont foothills, with four holes running alongside Sugar Creek and thirteen holes crossing or paralleling streams that feed the Catawba River. It plays to a par of 72 over 6,906 yards, with numerous elevated tees and greens contributing to significant elevation change for the region. Greens were upgraded to ultradwarf MiniVerde turf in 2010. Owned and operated by Leroy Springs & Company, a nonprofit recreation provider, Springfield hosts corporate outings, charity tournaments and youth programs including a First Tee partnership. The practice facility includes an oversized putting green and driving range.
